June Newsletter - Raton & Hacha

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law” Rom 13:8

INTRODUCTION

There is no doubt that short-term mission trips are an incredible resource to influence and impact the lives of those that come and those who host. We pray that God will use these trips beyond our imagination, for we know that future long-term missionaries, financial partners, evangelists, and others are born from the teams that go and receive; those willing to adventure to unknown cultures or people groups.

We have seen God raise such warriors from such trips, and we are more than willing to be part of the process.

PASTOR SIMON:

We met Pastor Simon in 200. Back then, he was not interested in becoming a church leader, but God worked in him through joining various mission trips and learning how to serve God. His heart leaned towards the kids, for he saw the church of tomorrow in them. Today, God has given him and his family a ministry to reach kids with the Gospel using innovative tools, games, and methods that kids love. He has developed a team from previous kids that were reached with the Gospel through the ministry, and it is with them that we NorthAmerican, Panamanians, and Ngobe) served during one week in two places.

RATON:

We arrived in Raton and set camp, getting ready for the work of the next day. We met with Pastor Simon and worked out the program with the team, as well as the evangelistic work for the next two days.

The next day we started to lay out the playing games, dramas, and everything needed for the kid’s program. Two hundred twenty-five kids and 22 adults showed up for the program. During the program, pottage and lunch were served, and we shared meals.

In the afternoon, the team did hut-to-hut evangelism. God blessed us with good weather even though heavy rains are in season.

HACHA:

Hiking to Hacha was not that difficult, for we were heading down the mountain towards the Atlantic side of the mountain chain. God blessed us with no rain in the morning, but after setting camp in classrooms provided by the school, it rain heavily. We got supplies and things ready for the next two ministry days.

On the first day, we went out hut to hut, and on the second day, the kid’s program took off. Around 235 kids showed up together with 32 adults.

As in Raton, the kids enjoyed lots of sweets, and for recess time, pottage was prepared and shared lunch with them.
